It was understood from our previous articles, the reason we need SEO for our pages, is to get better Google ranking for these pages.
Better ranking means more visitors to our site, more visitors means more potential customers, therefore more sales.
How much does SEO cost?
Search Engine Optimization is not a service that is priced the same way and at the same cost for everyone.
It’s like asking a contractor “how much money it would take for you to build me a house?”.
How many square meters will the house be, how many floors and how many rooms will it have, what materials will be used, how quickly we want to finish the building, etc.
So, to answer respectively for the cost of an SEO service,
we need to examine the following factors thoroughly :
-
What is the status of the website
- Namely, how many and what are the existing technical problems it faces, how and when they can be assessed and afterwards be resolved as a matter of priority.
- Does it have quality content that should be enriched – modified to target the correct keywords – key phrases or should this content be created from scratch?
Creating quality content is a serious task, which takes time and of course comes at a cost.
-
Keyword Researching
- It is very important to check the specific “market” to which each website is addressed and how competitive this “market” is. For example, if we sell gadgets and electronic devices, we target one of the most competitive “markets”, it is natural that it will take more time and more money to achieve this than if we operate in a less competitive market.
- But even if the market we are targeting is very competitive, there are opportunities, using search phrases for which our competitors do not rank well or not at all or their pages have obvious “weaknesses”, which we can exploit accordingly.
-
A very important factor is backlinks, the creation of which also has a high cost.
As you understand, how much SEO costs, is a question that everyone can ask, but the answer is the same for everyone.
It requires expertise and many man-hours.
Search Engine Optimization is a complex process with many variables and several external factors that need to be monitored regularly and determine our next steps.
But not to stick to theory alone, I will give you a range of values to give you an idea.
In my personal opinion, you can’t do a proper job for less than €500 – €600 per month and for a period of at least 3 months.
This is the minimum price you should be estimating to pay to have an expectation of getting actual results.
If it seems “expensive”, consider the cost of a similar advertising campaign with Google Adwords.
In most cases, the cost will be even higher, without having any positive impact on the ranking of your pages as far as organic results go.
The results of SEO are measurable, not theoretical, so you will be able to see with your own eyes the progress and the difference from the previous ranking of your pages and their traffic as well as the “credibility” that your domain will start to gain (domain authority), which is also measurable and extremely important.
Whoever you entrust to do this work for your business, not just us, I’d advise you to not do it for less money, anything less will just be a waste of time and money for you.
The most expensive option should also not be the one chosen from the beginning either, even if you are willing to spend €1,500 or more per month, I would still advise you not to do it right away.
Start with a “basic” initial package, set goals, give it time, see and evaluate the results achieved and then you can choose more “aggressive” strategies by investing – purposefully -!
The 3 months we mention as the minimum duration of an SEO campaign is because Google doesn’t refresh its results every day.
Usually this happens every 3 months, unless there are major upgrades to parts of its complex algorithm.
This not only answers the question we hear too often, “When will I start seeing results?“, but also gives us an idea of how we should plan our campaigns based on the seasonality of the services or products we sell.
For example, if we have a toy shop or Christmas gift shop and we want to be in time for the holidays, we should definitely launch our SEO Campaign in September!
Otherwise we are likely to improve our ranking but miss the holidays season time window.
